New logo and end of beta

"Don't judge a book by its cover" - this is a sentence we've all heard more than one time.
And it's true! A book does not have to have a great cover to be a really good book - just look at the "animal" technical books from O'Reilly.

The same holds true for products and for websites ;)

Up until now, we've been intensely focused on improving our products: Cube and our iPhone/iPad App (a new version is just waiting for Apple's OK). We also have reached-out to all of you early adopters and listened very carefully to your feedbacks and suggestions and you should see those trickle in the the upcoming deployments. The logo and brand image were very low priority - the client comes first!

Nevertheless we think that a brand image is important because it helps convey who we are and helps you recognize us and our products, and at a glance know: "Ah this thing here is done by those guys that did also Cube so it must [suck, be ok, be great]!" - we're hoping you think the later rather than the former :)

We choose a logo that was meant to be simple - "make it simple so I can draw it on a napkin" I told the designer - little did he know that I cannot even draw a straight line with a ruler :)

And there you have it - 3 cubes (a blue, a green and a yellow). - "But there are 4 cubes! What about the red cube?" - you might ask.
Look closely the red one is not a cube, it does not have a separate top and front face - it just looks like a cube. It represents our work in progress, always improving, always building.

With the improvements and feedback that we've been receiving and thanks our thousands (yes, literally thousands of users) we think it is time for the next step.

We are announcing the end of the beta period as of the 30th April. The codebase is stable, we did not have a single critical/severe incident since launch and we never experienced any kind of service disruption.

What does that mean for you?
Well it depends, according to our pricing plans, if you have less than 3 persons and 3 active projects on your account then nothing changes, Cube is free. If however you are a Pro user with more than 3 persons or more than 3 active projects then you should subscribe to our Pro edition for a flat rate of 5€ / month per user with no limits whatsoever on the number of projects/tasks.

Existing users will have a grace period until the 31th of May 2010; after that period you'll be asked to subscribe to one of our plans.

We believe in delivering great software and great service to our customers, and that is our commitment.

Stay tuned!
